Join a Corporation at the First Opportunity.
Generally, for most MMO’s playing by yourself is absolutely a viable option, especially if you just want to play the basic story line and enjoy questing by yourself. This is not the case in EVE, however and you should join a corporation (otherwise known as a guild in other MMO’s) as soon as you can. For those who don’t know, a corporation is a group of like-minded gamers who enjoy the comradery and help while playing this game. This not only is a help for easing boredom that can be associated with questing alone but is also very beneficial when playing alongside others who have been around the block and have a very clear understanding of the game mechanics. In some other games of this type, general seasoned veterans will avoid grouping with those who are just starting out, however that is not the case here. There are certain benefits associated with adding newbies into their ranks.
Choose your Path Early On
After learning the basics and game mechanics of EVE Online, it is important to look over and deciding what you would like to do in relates to progressing yourself in the game. You may want to attempt to be just good at everything, which is a viable option in most other MMO’s. That, however, is not the case in EVE. Those who choose to specialize in an area and tend to be intentional in those skills associated will be rewarded and have a much more enjoyable experience.
Learn Whenever You Can
Shifting your mindset to learn from your mistakes, or from other players is a huge beneficial way to get the most and have the best experience from EVE. This game is rare in the sense that it somewhat relies on picking yourself up after a loss or failure. As before mentioned, EVE can be a very frustrating and rewarding game. Taking the frustrations and hardships while playing this is what makes you a better player and will ensure you get the most out of your experience. The EVE community thrives and values new players, and for the most part there is so much support available from your peers and corporation that taking advantage of that hive of knowledge is at the core of EVE.
EVE is such a rewarding and frustrating game to play but is also one of the best experiences around as relates to online gaming. Taking the time to learn and learning from your mistakes and frustrations is what makes EVE so rewarding and realistic, even though it is set in a futuristic environment. Enjoy learning something new every time you play, value your strengths and build on them, and enjoy the social group comradery. Let loose, have fun, and as always, happy gaming!
